UK fuel cards are accepted at thousands of forecourts — from supermarkets and major brands to 24/7 HGV bunker sites and even EV chargers. Here's the lay of the land.
Typical acceptance networks
Different cards open different gates. Here's what each network typically covers.
Multi-network cards
Cards like Allstar, Fuel Genie and UK Fuels accept at almost every brand — BP, Shell, Esso, Texaco, Morrisons, Sainsbury's, Tesco, Asda and most independents. Best for mixed fleets that travel widely.
Single-brand cards
BP Plus, Shell, Esso, Texaco Fastfuel and Keyfuels each have their own branded card with the deepest discounts at their own forecourts. Great if your routes pass mostly one brand.
HGV & bunker sites
Keyfuels, UK Fuels and Diesel Direct cards open the gates at 24/7 unmanned bunkers built for HGVs — high-flow pumps, big rig parking and the cheapest bulk diesel in the country.
Motorway services
Most multi-network cards work at MOTO, Welcome Break, Roadchef and Extra services — handy on long-haul days, though pump prices are higher than off-motorway sites.
Supermarket forecourts
Multi-network cards are accepted at Tesco, Sainsbury's, Morrisons and Asda forecourts — usually the cheapest pump prices around, perfect for vans and cars on local routes.
EV charging
Modern fuel cards (Allstar One Electric, Shell Recharge, BP Pulse) double as EV charge cards — one card, one invoice for diesel, petrol and electric.

A few habits that turn a good fuel card into a great one.
- Plan routes around your card's strongest network for the deepest savings.
- Multi-network cards trade slightly smaller discounts for far wider coverage.
- HGV operators almost always benefit from a bunker-site card alongside a multi-network card.
- Use the card provider's app or site locator to find the cheapest accepted forecourt nearby.
- Some sites are pump-only — keep a small float for ad-hoc parking, AdBlue or wash bays.
